3 charged in felony DUI cases in Madison County

EDWARDSVILLE – Three people were charged with felony DUI in separate cases filed Monday by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Mark A. Kerley, 45, of Granite City, was charged Aug. 22 with aggravated driving while under the influence, a Class 2 felony, and leaving the scene of an accident involving property damage, a Class A misdemeanor.

The case was presented by the Edwardsville Police Department.

According to court documents, on Aug. 19 Kerley allegedly was driving a 2013 Ford U-Haul box truck while under the influence of alcohol when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident on Illinois 143 at Raymond Road in Edwardsville. The accident resulted in damage to a guardrail, and Kerley allegedly failed to stop at the scene.

It was noted he had been convicted of or received court supervision for similar violations in another state in 2010 and 2014.

Bail was set at $50,000.

Larenzo P. McDaniel, 40, of South Roxana, was charged with aggravated driving while under the influence, a Class 2 felony, and aggravated driving under the influence while license revoked/suspended, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.

According to court documents, on Aug. 21 McDaniel allegedly was driving a 2010 Nissan Maxima while under the influence of alcohol and with a revoked license. He has been convicted of or received court supervision for related crimes in 2018 and on Jan. 3, 2022.

Bail was set at $40,000.

Rafael R. Blandon, 40, of Pontoon Beach, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence while license was revoked/suspended, a Class 4 felony.

The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 21 Blandon allegedly was driving a 2002 Chevrolet while under the influence of alcohol and with a suspended license.

Bail was set at $30,000.

Other drug-related felony charges filed Aug. 22 include:

• Jude L. Hatcher, 40, of Cahokia, was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Granite City Police Department. On Aug. 20 Hatcher allegedly had less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $25,000.

• Melissa D. Pence, 41, of Cottage Hills, was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. On Aug. 19 Pence allegedly had less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Alan Rodriguez, 21, of Collinsville, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. On Aug. 20 Rodriquez allegedly had less than 15 grams of cocaine. Bail was set at $15,000.
