A stalemate ended with a man finally surrendering to Kenosha police and being unharmed after barricading himself in a house on the 5300 block on 39th Avenue for more than two hours late Wednesday.

The man was arrested at 10:22 p.m. after the incident, which started shortly before 8 p.m., said Sgt. Josh Hecker of the Kenosha Police Department. The man’s identity was not disclosed.

Earlier police radio traffic indicated that the authorities had tried several times to negotiate with the man and ask him to surrender. Some of the man’s family members also spoke to him by phone when armed officers surrounded the house. He was eventually handcuffed and taken to a police car by several officers without incident.

Hecker said the stalemate was linked to a report of gunfire in the area of ​​the 2800 block of 63rd Street.

However, at some point during the stalemate, members of the man’s family and friends gathered outside across the street from the crime scene, with several recording the actions outside the home. They waited eagerly for the man to come out.
