Milwaukee Admirals hockey returns: ‘Excited to get back’

The Milwaukee Admirals start the 2021-22 AHL season at home.

The Milwaukee Admirals opened their 2021-22 season against the Grand Rapids Griffins on Saturday, October 16.

After 584 days, fans big and small were happy to finally be back in the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena.

“I’ve been coming here since the 70s,” said fan Jeffrey Jene.

“After a year and a half, We’re so happy to be back, “said fan Dana Schultz, whose last Admirals game was on February 22, 2020.” Just seeing it on TV, as my husband says, is not the same. “

The Admirals’ 2019-20 season has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. For 2020-21, the team waived the game due to pandemic-related complications.

Now, like the fans, the players can’t wait to lace up their skates and hit the ice.

“They are excited to be back, they want to put on a good show tonight too,” said Jon Greenberg, President of Admirals.

Masks were optional for fans, and there were additional hand sanitizing stations throughout the arena.

“The building has a lot of cleaning logs. We are very comfortable with our location,” said Greenberg.

And the fans were more than happy to be back in the stands.

“Let’s get a win, start strong – go Admirals,” said Jene.

The Admirals Organization said the entire team – players and coaching staff – is fulland vaccinated so they hope to play every game this season. The team’s next game is against the Chicago Wolves on October 22nd.

The season started strong. The Admirals beat the Griffins 7-3.

The FOX6 High School Blitz Game of the Week featured Arrowhead and Oconomowoc.
