Milwaukee woman sentenced to 5 years in prison for role in stabbing death of Ryan Sorensen

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — A Milwaukee woman has been sentenced for her role in the 2019 stabbing death of Ryan Sorensen of West Allis.

Shirley Monge pleaded guilty to murder-battery as a party to a crime and was sentenced Monday to five years in jail, followed by five years of extended supervision.

Monge’s husband, Angel Monge Mathuzima, was sentenced last month to 16 years in prison followed by nine years of extended supervision after a jury found him guilty of second degree reckless homicide as a party to a crime.

According to a criminal complaint, Sorensen made a comment to Angel and Shirley, who were riding bikes, as he walked home from a bar in September of 2019. The two circled back and an argument began.

The complaint alleges the couple began to fight Sorensen, stabbing him in his chest before fleeing on their bikes.
