New Milwaukee Komatsu facility to receive $1.7M in grants | Business

MILWAUKEE – The new Komatsu Mining Corp. facility. Milwaukee receives two grants totaling $ 1.7 million to support the transportation industry to facilitate road and rail access to the site.

A grant announced by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is helping build a railroad spur to provide access to Komatsu’s new $ 300 million manufacturing and headquarters facility in the Milwaukee Port District. The second grant is helping rebuild a section of Kinnickinnic Avenue so that large trucks can safely access the Komatsu site.

According to the announcement on Tuesday, this type of rail and road connection corresponds to the requirements for the transport infrastructure of a heavy production company of this size.
