Carol J. Nachtwey, 87, Green Bay, passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023. She was born December 31, 1935, in Green Bay to Ervin and Julia (Stangel) Van Lannen. Carol graduated from Green Bay East High School. After high school she spent some time working for Borden’s Cheese Factory in Plymouth, WI. On October 1, 1960, Carol married Joseph Nachtwey at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church. Together they raised three boys. They loved spending time with family up north at their cottage in Silver Cliff. When her grandchildren were young, she would babysit them so they wouldn’t have to go to daycare. Carol’s family was her pride and joy. She also enjoyed sewing, painting ceramics, reading, playing cribbage and putting puzzles together. She is survived by her husband, Joseph; children, Scott Nachtwey, Steve (Cindy) Nachtwey, Stuart (Carol) Nachtwey; grandchildren, Morgan (fiancé, Michael) Nachtwey, Brandon Nachtwey, Brittany (fiancé, Jeffrey) Nachtwey; great-grandchildren, Cora Lynne, Halli, Harlei, Cole and Odin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Julia; siblings, Arnold Van Lannen, Ervin Van Lannen Jr., Kenneth Van Lannen, Irene Klein; sisters-in-law, Eleanor De Winter and Marilyn Weber; brothers-in-law, Sylvester Nachtwey and Raymond Nachtwey. Friends and family will gather at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., from 9 am to 11 am on Friday, February 4; Funeral Service to follow at 11 am Entombment will be in Allouez Catholic Chapel Mausoleum.
