GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – If you’ve ever seen a green and gold helmet with a cheese head on it, adorned with autographs from Packers players – you’ve met super fan Bobby Anderson.
There isn’t an ounce of Anderson’s body that doesn’t bleed the green and gold. His Fandom with the Packers began when he was a little kid and has carried it ever since, even when he lived in Georgia, where he lived for more than 20 years.
It was a trip to Lambeau Field in 2015 that saw Anderson realize he wanted to call Titletown home and was determined to live in Packer land.
“I knew I had to move here. So it took me four more years because every year I said, ‘I’m going to move, I’m going to move’. Then I finally made up my mind, in 2019, April 1st, the time had come, “said Anderson.
Bobby packed a U-Haul with his belongings in Georgia and made the 15-hour drive to Green Bay. His new home.
But it came with fighting.
“When I moved here, I was homeless for about three and a half weeks. I had nowhere to live, I didn’t have a job. Things that should fail didn’t fail so I just had to get it to work. I was just grateful to be here, ”said Anderson.
Bobby’s passion for the Packers and his dream of living near Lambeau Field made him homeless for almost a month, but when it started clicking and he got on his feet, his dream became a reality.
Now, just 10 minutes from historic Lambeau Field, Bobby can drive up and down Lombardi Avenue in the city he is so proud to live in with the OWNER license plate across the street.
Anderson bought shares in the Packers stock sale in 2011. He waited almost three hours on the phone, but it’s unique to him, and beyond the dollar amount, to say he is an owner of the pack.
“No other team does that to be a shareholder. We are a little bit more proud of our team. Win or lose, we’re still Packers fans, ”Anderson told Local 5.
Bobby has lived in Green Bay for more than two years and stands out from the sea of green and gold. Whether his Packers helmet or his equipment tailored to the “Packers Owner”, he had a lot of fun getting to know other fans out of love for the Packers.
“It’s wonderful. Kids look at me like a superhero. It’s wonderful. I just feel good,” said Anderson.
Moving from Georgia to Wisconsin is quite a step. Bobby explained how grateful he was that everyone around him opened their arms.
“The people are amazing. You welcomed me with open arms. Since moving here alone, I’ve had families telling me to come over for Thanksgiving and Christmas. These are people I just got to know, “said Anderson. “I think that’s just amazing. You don’t think so. “
During Bobby’s insane trip to Titletown, he trusted God to sort it all out.
“I trusted God because I had him in my corner. I trust God and he made the move and like I said, I was homeless for about three and a half weeks, but he made it. I was able to socialize, find a job, go to Packers games. I’ve attended seven Packers games since I’ve been here. I would never have imagined, “said Anderson.
In the city that Bobby always wanted to call home, everything fits together – he has a new approach to life.
“Life is short and we begin to see this in everything that goes on in the world we live in. So I encourage everyone to follow your heart and follow your dreams just like I have, ”said Anderson.
Enjoying Packers football at Green Bay was always a wish list for Bobby, and now he can do it every day.
