McKenzie ’79 receives Bob Harlan Leadership award from Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. – CSB+SJU

Pat McKenzie Sr., a 1979 Saint John’s University graduate and the longtime team physician for the Green Bay Packers, was honored with the Bob Harlan Leadership Award at a banquet held Thursday (Sept. 1) in the Lambeau Field Atrium in Green Bay, Wisconsin .

The award, presented by The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc., is named in honor of former Packers President/CEO Bob Harlan. Candidates to receive it “must have demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities, over and above the call of duty during or after their career or association with the Packers. Above all, they must have served with the integrity, character and determination emblematic of Harlan.”

McKenzie, an orthopedic surgeon with specialties in sports medicine, arthroscopy and ligament reconstruction, has been the team’s physician since 1991 – being part of three Super Bowl appearances and working with Packers legends like Brett Favre, Reggie White, Aaron Rodgers, Davante Adams and others .

In 2011, he was honored with the Jerry “Hawk” Rhea Award as the NFL’s physician of the year.

A basketball standout at SJU, McKenzie is also the father of former Johnnies point guard and current head coach Pat McKenzie Jr. and former SJU guard Kevin McKenzie.
