Thunderstorms, heavy rains, high winds hail forecast Saturday evening

GREEN BAY – After a hot and sticky Saturday morning and afternoon, strong storms are forecast to roll across Wisconsin in the evening, according to the National Weather Service in Green Bay.

The storms could put a damper on Saturday evening’s soccer match at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, where more than 75,000 fans are expected for the international exhibition between Bayern Munich and Manchester City.

The forecast calls for storms to move into central Wisconsin by 5 to 8 pm Saturday, making their way east over several hours, said meteorologist Roy Eckbert.

Rain is forecast to reach the Fox Cities and Green Bay at around 7 to 10 pm, he said. The soccer match at Lambeau is scheduled to start at 6 pm

The storms have a chance of turning severe, especially in central Wisconsin, with the possibility of heavy rains, large hail, and high winds. As the storm moves east, however, high winds will remain the chief threat, Eckbert said.
