Bruce Company proposes major redevelopment of its Middleton property | Business News

The proposed plan stems from Parmenter Street undergoing a multi-year transition from the freeway to the urban thoroughfare.

When Highway 12 was diverted westward in 2005 as part of an expansion of the road between Middleton and Sauk City by $ 126 million, city officials renamed the old section of Highway 12 Parmenter Street, as it was with the original Parmenter Street connected, which dismantles the historic city downtown.

In 2007, a $ 7 million reconstruction of the street was completed, which included a two-lane roundabout, a boulevard, new utilities, and a bike lane. The project also improved access to businesses along the road. A tax hike finance district was set up by the city in 2012 to encourage redevelopment, which has increased in recent years.

Parmenter Street redevelopment has come a long way in the last few years since it was converted from Highway 12 to a city street in the early 2000s. Several residential and commercial buildings have been built or are under construction.

Wall Enterprises, is nearing completion east of the roundabout.
