Carmen Ehlers Obituary – Green Bay Press-Gazette

Carmen Lois Ehlers, 80, of Townsend, passed away Sunday, November 19, 2022 at Unity Meng Residence, DePere. Carmen was born February 8, 1942 in Marinette to the late Kenneth and Irna (Schoenfeld) Return. She married William Ehlers on November 10, 1962 at Trinity Lutheran, Oconto. Carmen attended Feifrick School and Oconto High School. Carmen and Bill owned and operated grocery stores in Townsend area for many years. They lived in Florida for a few years. Upon her return to Wisconsin, Carmen sold real estate and she was Wabeno School District bookkeeper until her retirement in 2007. Carmen was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, serving on Alter Guild and Christmas decorating committee. She volunteered at Christian Thrift Store, Wabeno. Carmen was a talented artist, featuring watercolors of favorite northwoods spots, grandchildren and family dogs. Her greatest joy were her sons and her grandchildren and great-grand children. Earlier years of snowmobiling and taking their sons snow and water skiing filled their weekends. Carmen is survived by her husband, William Ehlers; two sons Chip (Julie), Little Chute, Dan (Dana), DePere; and her grandchildren, Aimee Larson, Ashlee Larson, Nathan (Lizzy) Ehlers, Kristen (Sam) Santkuyl, Adam Ehlers and six great-grand children with one on the way.. She will be missed by her five siblings, Donna Limberg, Nancy (Leon) Mocco, Judith (Greg) Staponkus, Darryl (Rose) and Scott (Vicki) Retrum who treasure her gentle ways and great sense of humor, and her special high school friends who continue to meet few times a year.
