City of Milwaukee puts out call for city Christmas tree

It may seem early, especially with the fine September weather, but the City of Milwaukee is issuing its annual City Christmas Tree Call for 2021. The ideal tree should be 9 to 12 feet tall and must be crane accessible for harvest. This means that there are no overhead lines to disrupt the process. The tree candidates are judged on size, shape, evenness, density and color. When a tree is selected, city government forest staff will cut the tree and crane it onto a flatbed truck for transportation downtown, remove the stump and fill in the hole. The tree receives a police escort in the city center. Residents interested in considering their tree in 2021 should contact the City of Milwaukee at 286-CITY (2489) by October 8th. All tree candidates will be judged and one will be selected and at the lighting ceremony in November. Eligible trees must be in Milwaukee City.
