1934-2021

Donald Lucas, 87 years old, died on Thursday, September 9, 2021 with his family. He was born on February 4, 1934 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, to Delmas and Mary Lucas. Don graduated from Kenosha High School in 1953. He continued his education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he started as a swimming student. He enlisted in the Army in 1954 and served his country until 1956. After his release, he worked in the construction industry in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He owned Lucas Ceramic Tile until he retired in 1994 when he and his wife moved to Mesa, Arizona to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. He spent his time at Leisure World meeting new people and making friends, playing shuffleboard, traveling with rovers, sailing remote-controlled sailboats with the Tillerman Club and growing his roses.

He married Leona Frederich on February 12, 1955 in Kenosha, Wisconsin. They had four children, daughters Lynn, Sandra, Sharon and son James. He leaves behind his mate Judy Merrill and four children: daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn (Brian) Head, Pinedale, AZ, Sandra (Greg, deceased) Davis, Fountain Hills, AZ and Sharon (Ken) Apel, Scottsdale, AZ and son James ( Margo) Lucas, Menomonee Falls, WI; Grandchildren: Scott (Caitlin) Davis, Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Joshua Lucas, Menomonee Falls, WI, Aaron Apel, Athens, GA and granddaughters: Haley Lucas, Appleton, WI, Jessica Apel, Flagstaff, AZ; and four great-grandchildren: Bailey, Bentley, Easton & Eli, Indian Rocks, FL. In death his wife Leona precedes him; Parents, Delmas and Mary Lucas; In-laws, Joseph and Ollie Frederich; and son-in-law Greg Davis.

An inurnment service will be held on December 4, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at the Columbarium of St. Matthews Episcopal Church, 5900 7th Avenue, Kenosha, WI. Immediately after the service in the guild hall there will be a “Celebration of Life” lunch.
