Evers Announces $ 250 Million in Racine; Governor Provides Federal Funds To Address Health Inequalities | Local news

“We are here to serve the people and we look forward to opening up so that everyone has access to affordable health care,” added Muhammad. “No matter where you come from, regardless of income, insurance or lack of insurance, we know that the need is there.”

The clinic, which may open this fall, is designed to provide basic dental care, health care, and some behavioral care.

The clinic will provide a one-stop shop for vulnerable or underserved community members rather than going to the emergency room, which sometimes happens when people don’t have the resources to see a doctor in a private practice.

The clinic has two rooms for the dental service, four examination rooms for health care and two rooms for behavioral medicine. It is expected that there will be a tiered fee structure and that Medicaid, Medicare, and private liability insurance will be billed.

Therefore, depending on a person’s eligibility, the service can be free or offered at a significantly reduced cost.

Answer of the city

The announcement by the governor met with an enthusiastic response from the members of the Racine City Council who were present.

Alderman John Tate II, President of the City Council, noted that the pandemic exposed pre-existing disparities in some Racine neighborhoods that were still recovering from lost manufacturing jobs and previous recessions.
