For the Madison Mallards college baseball team, it’s not just bases stolen this season.

A large statue of the mascot Maynard G. Mallard, which stands next to the stadium, had its head stolen during a home game on June 12th.

But in a good mood and with the hope of returning, the team decided to replace the missing head with a collection of old mascot heads.

Vern Stenman, the team president, said the ball club hadn’t received any major clues about the missing head since the theft. The team called for help on social media, offering a $ 500 reward in free hot dogs and criminal immunity to anyone who helps get their heads back to the stadium.

The only tip the team received was two pictures taken by someone holding the back of the person suspected of taking the head. Stenman said the team has not yet been able to find the person.

Suspect suspect of the mallards

The person in the blue shirt, black shorts and white shoes is suspected of taking over the head of the Madison Mallards.

“We’re not sure what to do,” he said. “It’s frustrating that it happened.”

The team decided to try and turn what was lost into “something fun” for fans, Stenman said, by replacing the missing head with the heads of previous mascots, including the original Mallard mascot head, a female version of the mascot named Millie D Duck, an original Madison Muskies mascot head and a canine mascot named Bonehead.
