Homicide Suspect Killed in Shootout with Milwaukee Police

Milwaukee Police shot and killed a homicide suspect after a chase overnight. During a news conference Saturday morning, police say they tried to pull over a truck at 22nd & National Avenue around 10:50 pm Friday night. Police say the truck was connected to a homicide. The driver refused to pull over and a pursuit ensued. “It went all over the city,” said Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief Nicole Waldner. The chase ended at Edison Street & Juneau Avenue after the suspect’s vehicle became disabled. The 47-year-old suspect got out of his truck and exchanged gunfire with police. Police shot the man and he died at the scene. A 22-year-old woman was also hit in the crossfire. Police say she was an innocent bystander. Her injuries are non-life-threatening and she was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It’s not clear whose gunfire hit the innocent bystander. The eight officers involved are now on administrative leave, which is standard for officer-involved shootings. Oak Creek Police will lead the investigation.
