Judge to reinstate ousted Milwaukee police chief in 45 days

MILWAUKEE (AP) – A judge says he will restore the ousted Milwaukee Police Chief Alfonso Morales to his post in 45 days unless Morales’ lawyers and the city reach an agreement.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that Milwaukee County Judge Christopher Foley passed the verdict on Wednesday.

The city’s police commission downgraded Morales to captain in August after rioting over protests against racial justice and complaints of suspicion within the police force. Morales withdrew and sued for damages. Foley overturned the Commission’s decision in December. Morales lawyers have accused the city of failing to abide by the verdict or propose a financial settlement.
