MDOT closes Milwaukee Rd. bridge over US-23

MILAN TOWNSHIP – The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has closed Milwaukee Road. Bridge over US-23 in Milan Township due to a recent high-load impact that damaged the bridge, the Monroe County Road Commission said.

The bridge is between Platt and Ann Arbor Rds. The duration of this closure has not yet been determined, said Pamela Morgan from the maintenance department of the road commission. The detour around the lock is via Milwaukee, Dennison Rd., M-50 and Ann Arbor Rd. For updates, visit the MDOT Mi Drive Map at https://mdotjboss.state.mi.us/MiDrive/map.

The closure of the bridge has had an impact on another bridge improvement in the community. Cone Rd. Is closed for replacement at the bridge over North Macon Creek. The bridge between Wabash and Crowe Rds. remains closed to all traffic for the duration of the project. The tentative date for the reopening will be in mid-September, Morgan said.

The signposted detour around this lock is via Cone, Dennison Rd., M-50, and Ann Arbor Rd. Access to Milan Beach at 16339 Cone Rd. Will be east of the lock from Ann Arbor, the US-23 intersection on Cone Rd. Exit (Exit 22) and Crowe Rd., She said.
