New map shows areas of county with low COVID-19 vaccination rates, below 40 percent | Local News

Bags in Kenosha City and western Kenosha County have vaccination rates below 40 percent, a new interactive map shows.

“Immunization rates in Salem Lakes, Twin Lakes, Wilmot, Trevor, and the Uptown neighborhood of Kenosha remain below the county and state average,” said Jen Freiheit, health director for Kenosha County.

Freedom said the new map shows “where low vaccination rates and high social vulnerability coincide, identifying the areas where further vaccination efforts are most critical”.

In the town of Kenosha, an area east of Green Bay Road to the Lake – which is home to 17,581 residents – is below the state average of people who completed a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine. This also includes the Uptown district.

In western Kenosha Counties, Brighton, Bristol and Wheatland have a vaccination rate of over 40 percent, while the vaccination rate in Paddock Lake and Paris is just under 40 percent. In Salem Lakes – the largest parish in western Kenosha County – in Twin Lakes and Randall, the vaccination rate is below 35 percent.

Freedom said Kenosha County Public Health (KCPH) has been focusing on improving the equity of COVID-19 vaccine distribution since January.

“An important part of that effort was the convening of a health justice task force led by community leaders,” Freedom said. “The Task Force is committed to leading vaccine distribution in underserved areas, developing culturally appropriate strategies, and empowering communities to work together to promote greater health equity.”
