Racine teenager suspected of a robbery accused of crashing a car while escaping from the police | Crime and Courts

MOUNT PLEASANT – A racine robbery suspect, reportedly a passenger in a car that was stopped by police on Monday, is accused of taking the car while the driver was being searched by officers, escaped from the scene and had an accident to have caused. He was arrested after a car chase.

Jaysen D. Massie, 18, of the 2000 Block of Deane Boulevard, has been charged with six charges of bail jumping, attempted escape from an officer, and reckless endangerment of the second degree of security, as well as offenses for assault-and-run of a guard Vehicle, possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, and carrying a hidden weapon.

According to a criminal complaint:

At 4:23 p.m. Monday, an officer conducted a traffic check in the Landmark Credit Union parking lot near the 6209 Washington Ave area.

As he approached the car, the officer saw three occupants, one of whom was Massie, and noticed the smell of marijuana. During the search of the driver, Massie sat in the driver’s seat and tried to drive off. An officer drew a taser but was unable to use it before Massie drove off.

Massie was chased to Emmertsen Road, where he got out of the car and walked north on the front gardens of the houses on the 1400 block of Emmertsen Road.

He was eventually arrested.
