Susie McKay Obituary (1929 – 2022) – Madison, IN

Mrs. Wilma Margaret “Susie” Hertz McKay, age 92, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on August 6, 1929 in Madison, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Charles Nicholas and Louise Catherine Rousch Hertz. She resided all of her life in Jefferson County and graduated high school. On August 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Thomas A. McKay by Father Walsh at the St. Michael Rectory in downtown Madison. This happy union of 60 years was blessed with sons, Michael, Charles, Steven, Kevin and David. They made their home for several years in Hanover and later moved to their present home on East Second Street in downtown Madison where they raised their family. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother and her husband owned and operated McKay Accounting Service. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Church and the Madison Elks Lodge No. 524. She enjoyed walking, playing Euchre, gardening and caring for her family. Susie died on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 3:24 pm at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus in Hanover, Indiana.

Susie will be missed by her loving sons, Michael McKay and his wife, Tammy of Madison, Indiana, Charles “Chuck” McKay and his wife, Cindy of Madison, Indiana, Steven McKay and his wife, Lynn of Madison, Indiana, Kevin McKay and his wife, Georgetta of Madison, Indiana; David McKay and his wife, Rita of Madison, Indiana; her grandchildren, Mark, Emily, Whitney, Chris, Phillip, Clint, Christina, Benjamin, Desiree, Emilee, Justin, Cammie, and Jenny; her great grandchildren, Morgan, Kirsten, Ciarah, Linn, Ariel, Lauren, Madison, Spencer, Ethen, Collin, Claire, Ford, Vivienne, Jack, Grayson, Morgan, Aubree, Kinzee, Damoni, Dylan, Alexandra; her great great granddaughter, Bellaby Dawn; her sisters, Mary Ann Bear and her husband, Ronald of Madison, Indiana, Joan Tucker of Madison, Indiana; her brothers, Joseph “Joe” Hertz and his wife, Deanna of Madison, Indiana, Anthony “Tony” Hertz of Madison, Indiana; her sister in laws, Nancy Hertz of Cincinnati, Ohio, Jeanette Hertz of Madison, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Charles Nicholas Hertz, died May 3, 1966, her mother, Louise Catherine Rousch Hertz, died January 8, 1988, her husband of 60 years, Thomas A. McKay, died September 22, 2007, her grandsons, Matthew Keith McKay, died May 2, 1996, Joel Scott McKay, died September 9, 2000, and Steven Kyle McKay, died November 11, 1975, her sisters, Patricia Ann Hertz, died August 25, 1940, Marian Louise Lynch , died April 4, 2017 and her husband, Lee, died April 25, 2004, her brothers, Charles F. Hertz, died July 30, 1991 and his wife, Norma Jean, died February 12, 1981, William E. Hertz, died December 26, 1998, Francis W. “Petie” Hertz, died July 15, 2008 and his wife, Audrey died December 9, 2018, her brothers, Albert A. Hertz, died February 12, 2009 and his wife, Betty died May 28 , 2010, Bernard N. “Pee Wee” Hertz, died March 6, 2015, and his wife, Verrel, died January 20, 2013, her brother in law and sisters in law, Kenneth Gale Mckay, died July 11, 1991 and his wife, Jeri died April 10, 2020, and Gay Hartman Hertz, died November 23, 2009.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL
Funeral Mass will be conducted on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 12:00 noon, by Father Christopher A. Craig at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the St. Patrick Cemetery, 305 West State Street in Madison, Indiana.
VISITATION
Friends may visit Monday, June 20, 2022 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana.
THE ROSARY
The Rosary will be prayed on Monday, June 20, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 413 East Second Street in downtown Madison, Indiana.
