UPDATE: Kenosha Police identify victim in fatal Sunday Downtown shooting; mayor promises action | Crime & Courts



Kenosha Police on Sunday are investigating the area where a shooting occurred early Sunday on the 600 block on 57th Street. One man was killed and three people injured in the incident. The police reopened the downtown shooting scene to the public at 12:15 on Sunday.

Kenosha Police are investigating an early morning shooting on Sunday November 7, 2021 in which one person was killed and three injured. The shooting took place on the 600 block of 57th Street, but investigators marked evidence in dozens of spots scattered across the 700 block of 57th Street and part of 56th Street between Sixth and Seventh Avenues.

Kenosha Police identified the victim of a fatal shooting early Sunday morning on Monday afternoon at the 600 block on 57th Street.

The victim is the 28-year-old Marquis Wallace of Kenosha, who died on the scene, according to a press release. Three other people also suffered injuries and have been treated and discharged from nearby hospitals.

The police did not disclose the names of the other three victims.

Kenosha police officers in the area of ​​a major event at a local store heard gunfire around 1:49 a.m. on Sunday, according to a report.

“The officers were on site within a minute and could see muzzle flashes from several different locations,” said interim police chief Eric Larsen. “Evidence was found of over 70 cartridges fired.

“Due to the large crowd, the chaotic scene and attempts to break through the crime scene, our officers had to ask several law enforcement agencies to help each other to keep control.”

According to police radio, officers from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, Pleasant Prairie, Racine City, and the Racine Sheriff’s Department also called.

The investigation continues, the police had not named any suspects by Monday. Authorities said Sunday they believe the shooting wasn’t a fluke and appears to have resulted from some kind of argument.
