Community Care Extends PACE Services to Kenosha County | Local News I Racine County Eye

Community Care, Inc. is expanding its All Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) program to Kenosha County starting August 1.

PACE is a unique program that offers all-round services to help frail seniors and people with disabilities 55 and older who qualify for nursing home care but choose to stay at home.

Community Care is the only managed care organization offering PACE in Wisconsin that will provide PACE services to residents for 30 years in 2020. There are currently 130 PACE organizations in 31 states serving more than 50,000 participants. In addition to Kenosha County, Community Care offers PACE in Milwaukee, Racine, and Waukesha counties and operates two adult PACE day centers in Milwaukee and Waukesha.

“The PACE care model is based on the belief that it is better for the well-being of elderly people in chronic care and their families to have community care whenever possible,” said Kenneth Munson, director of Community Care. “We are pleased about the opportunity to make the program accessible to even more residents.”

While all PACE attendees must qualify for nursing home care in order to enroll for PACE, only about 7 percent of PACE attendees nationwide reside in a nursing home. If a PACE member requires home care, the program pays for it and continues to coordinate the member’s care.

As one of the early adopters of the PACE model, Community Care is also a founding member of the National PACE Association (NPA), which is committed to promoting PACE programs across the country.

In addition to PACE, Community Care also offers the Family Care and Family Care Partnership programs in Kenosha County.
