Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes visits Racine tomorrow | Government and politics

RACINE – Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes will visit Racine on Thursday to learn how COVID-19 has affected Racine color communities and visit Mayor Cory Mason.

The lieutenant governor’s visit includes several tops in black companies to learn from the owners about the impact COVID-19 has on their business and their thoughts on COVID-19 vaccines.

A discussion will also be held on the impact of COVID-19 on the African American community, vaccination myths, and the work that needs to be done to vaccinate more residents. The discussion will take place at The Main Project & Cafe, 1014 State St., between Barnes, Racine Alderman Mollie Jones, the Racine-Kenosha Black Nurses Association, and some of the city’s recently hired “Vaccine Champions”.

Vaccine champions are locals hired by the city to encourage their peers to vaccinate.
