Milwaukee fire chief Aaron Lipski says it is his department’s responsibility to search a burned-out vehicle after the flames are out.
That didn’t happen after a car crashed and burned on Sunday morning.
Lipski apologized on Tuesday for his firefighters who had not found the body of 21-year-old Jenna Reichartz in the burned-out car.
A worker at a towing yard made the discovery three hours later.
Lipski apologized to the family at a press conference Tuesday and said an investigation was being carried out to find out how this happened.
