Russell P. Bohn

April 25, 1939 – August 4, 2021

RACINE – Russell P. Bohn died on August 4, 2021 at the age of 82 of complications from Parkinson’s and dementia.

Russell was born on April 25, 1939 in Racine Wisconsin to the late Russell and Justine (née Majercik) Bohn. He is survived by his loving wife Harriet; Son David (Janeen) Bohn; Daughter Christine Bohn; Grandsons Serena and Stevan Sretenovich; plus many other loved ones, family and friends.

He was married to Harriet Drier at St. Patrick’s Church on May 4, 1963, and they were married for over 58 years. He graduated from St. Catharine’s High School in 1957 and served two years with the United States Marines. Russell then worked for Western Publishing as a lithographer for over 35 years, working on many products including Golden Books. He enjoyed running and weightlifting, and completed many races, including the Light House Run. Russell and Harriet were part of a Friday Night Group that enjoyed fellowship and spiritual discussions with friends for over forty years. Russell had several great joys in life besides his family and friends and those included music, art, and volunteering. He was very fond of listening to live music and had a large CD collection. Art, of course, was a lifelong love; He took art classes at a young age and worked with many media throughout his life. After his retirement he decided to use paper mache sculptures painted with acrylic paints. Most of his sculptures were inspired by real people and social justice issues. He was a member of RAM and attended Water Color Wisconsin for several years, where he submitted pieces and won several awards. Russ even had his own One Man Show at the Anderson Arts Center in Kenosha called Homage to Ordinary People. Russell has been happy to volunteer to help our community. he visited prisoners in what was then the Union Grove Prison Farm. He was a volunteer at John The 23rd and for Father Bruce Clanton SDS at Mathew 25. Russell also demonstrated for social justice and politics. He and his sense of humor will be very missing.
