Weapons, drugs and alcohol charges filed in Madison County

EDWARDSVILLE — Several weapons, drug and alcohol related sets of charges were filed Tuesday by the Madison County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Duane A Reams, 35, of the 4400 block of E. Golike Lane, Bethalto, was charged Aug. 16 with unlawful possession of weapons by a felon, a Class 2 felony; and unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.

The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department.

According to court documents, on Aug. 8 Reams was found to be in possession of a switchblade knife; and less than five grams of methamphetamine.

It was noted that he had a prior conviction for burglary out of Madison County in 2010, making him ineligible to possess weapons.

Bail was set at $50,000.

In an unrelated case, Joshua J. McGee, 48, of the first block of Aspen Circle, Collinsville, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapons, a Class 4 felony; and driving while under the influence of alcohol, a Class A misdemeanor.

The case was presented by the Collinsville Police Department.

According to court documents, on Aug. 15 McGee was carrying a loaded and accessible Ruger Wrangler .22 revolver in a 2007 Chevrolet; and was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol.

Bail was set at $50,000.

Michael T. Daniels, 30, of the 2500 block of Benton Street, Granite City, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of weapons, a Class 4 felony; and transportation or possession of alcoholic liquor in a motor vehicle, a Class P misdemeanor.

The case was presented by the Pontoon Beach Police Department.

According to court documents, on Aug. 16 Daniels was carrying a loaded and accessible Ruger 5.7×28 semi-automatic handgun in a vehicle, and was transporting open alcoholic liquor.

Bail was set at $25,000.

Other felony charges filed Aug. 16 include:

• Jovani Meza, 29, of the 8300 block of Fairway Boulevard, Collinsville, was charged with unlawful possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony. The case was presented by the Madison County Sheriff’s Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 16 Meza was found to be in possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. Bail was set at $15,000.

• Jamie E. Degonia, 33, of the 2100 block of Washington Avenue. Alton, was charged with retail theft under $300 (second subsequent offense) and unlawful possession of a controlled substance, both Class 4 felonies. The case was presented by the Alton Police Department. According to court documents, on Aug. 15 Degonia took numerous items valued at less than $300 from Walgreens, 1650 Washington Avenue; and was found to be in possession of less than 15 grams of heroin. It was noted she has a prior conviction for theft out of Madison County in 2016. Bail was set at $15,000.
