Milwaukee Tech Week kicks off today

Meet the Meetups event from a previous Startup Milwaukee Week.

Milwaukee Tech Week is here, with 50 virtual and in-person events taking place across the region over the next six days.

The series, which runs October 25-31, aims to “connect, educate and celebrate innovations in southeastern Wisconsin,” according to its website. It will highlight the various organizations that support entrepreneurs, technologists and young talent looking to build careers or innovative new businesses in the area.

Milwaukee Tech Week’s premier kick-off event, Meet the Meetups, will be held tonight at 6 p.m. at the Central Standard Craft Distillery in downtown Milwaukee. Check out the full event schedule here.

Milwaukee Tech Week was known as Startup Milwaukee Week until earlier this year when the Milwaukee Tech Hub Coalition announced it plans hosting and rebranding the annual event to focus more on the Milwaukee tech ecosystem.

Back then was Matt Cordio, co-founder of Startup Milwaukee In 2016, the handover of the event to the MKE Tech Hub will help increase efforts to promote and grow the startup and tech ecosystem in southeastern Wisconsin.

The week still features some of the same events, such as today’s Meet the Meetups, which brings together various technology groups from the Milwaukee area, and Reverse Pitch Milwaukee, which will be held on Wednesday at Merriment Social – local businesses ask entrepreneurs to pitch company challenges through To solve competition.

Milwaukee Tech Week events are hosted by over 45 community partner organizations.
