WATCH: Local 5’s Season of Volunteering | WFRV local 5

(WFRV) – The holiday season goes hand in hand with volunteering and our team here at WFRV Local 5 went to the community to give back to local organizations.

Our morning show team took some time to get involved at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary and spend time with its amazing volunteers and staff who help rehabilitate more than 4,500 orphaned and injured animals and 600 acres of sanctuary in good condition each year to obtain.

The Local 5 Live team volunteered with the Wisconsin Humane Society to help thousands of stray animals each year. There are five Wisconsin Humane Society locations across Wisconsin with plenty of volunteer opportunities for those ages 13 and older with the help of a parent or guardian.

Local 5 Sports participated in an evening as a volunteer with local organization My Brothers Keeper, which hosted their fall banquet and the foundation’s largest fundraiser in October. My Brother’s Keeper has been based in Green Bay since 2003 and is committed to caring for boys and young men, creating and creating new opportunities and leadership skills.

Concerns of Police Survivors, Inc. provides resources to assist the surviving families and affected staff of police officers killed on duty. Michele McCormack of Local 5 sat down with Jo Ann Mignon, President of WI COPS, to discuss the nonprofit here in Wisconsin and helped put together care packages for the annual survival weekend.
